Indicators and the FXNook Agent

Why indicators come with a small companion EA, and how to set it up once.

Updated September 19, 2026 1 min read

MetaTrader does not let indicators connect to the internet. So FXNook indicators come with a small companion, the FXNook Agent, that checks the licence for them.

Setting it up

  1. From the download, copy the indicator into MQL4/Indicators or MQL5/Indicators, and the FXNook Agent into MQL4/Experts or MQL5/Experts.
  2. Allow FXNook in MetaTrader – see Allowing FXNook in MetaTrader.
  3. Drag the FXNook Agent onto any one chart and paste your licence key into its settings.
  4. Add the indicator to any chart you like.

How it works

  • The Agent checks your licence every 15 minutes and saves FXNook’s signed answer on your computer.
  • The indicator reads that answer about once a minute and checks the signature itself.
  • The Agent never trades. One Agent covers every FXNook indicator you own.

If the indicator will not load

no licence found - please run the FXNook Agent EA on any chart, with your licence key in its settings

Start the Agent with your key, wait a moment, then add the indicator again.
