Allowing FXNook in MetaTrader

The one-time WebRequest setting the licence check needs - and the mistakes that stop it working.

Updated September 19, 2026 1 min read

MetaTrader blocks EAs from connecting to the internet unless the address is on its allow-list. The licence check needs to reach FXNook, so you add it once.

Adding FXNook

  1. In MetaTrader go to Tools > Options.
  2. Open the Expert Advisors tab.
  3. Tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL.
  4. Double-click the empty line in the list.
  5. Type https://fxnook.com and press Enter.
  6. Click OK.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving out https://. fxnook.com on its own does not count.
  • Pasting the address. Pasting can add a hidden space. Type it.
  • Clicking away instead of pressing Enter. The entry is not saved.

Good to know

  • https://fxnook.com and https://www.fxnook.com both work. The EA tries the other one automatically if one is blocked.
  • Do this once for each MetaTrader installation – including every VPS.
  • If an address will not stay in the list, delete old entries you no longer use, add it again, and restart MetaTrader.

If it is missing

The badge and the Experts tab show:

MetaTrader is blocking the licence check. Open Tools -> Options -> Expert Advisors, tick "Allow WebRequest for listed URL", double-click the empty line, TYPE this address and press Enter: https://fxnook.com

Add the address and the EA starts by itself within about a minute – no need to re-attach it.
