Installing an EA on MT4 and MT5
Where the files go, how to restart, and how to switch on automated trading.
FXNook products are delivered as compiled MetaTrader files: .ex4 for MT4 and .ex5 for MT5.

Installing step by step
- Download the ZIP from My Account > Downloads and unzip it.
- In MetaTrader choose File > Open Data Folder. Always use this menu – it opens the right folder even when MetaTrader is installed in several places.
- Open the folder from the table above and copy the file in.
- Restart MetaTrader, or right-click Expert Advisors in the Navigator and choose Refresh.
- Allow FXNook in MetaTrader – see Allowing FXNook in MetaTrader.
- Drag the EA onto a chart, paste your key into FXNook_LicenseKey and click OK.
- Turn on AutoTrading (MT4) or Algo Trading (MT5).
Checking it has loaded
- The EA’s name appears in the top-right of the chart.
- The FXNook badge appears in the top-left.
- The Experts tab at the bottom of MetaTrader shows a line starting with
FXNook:.
Frequently asked questions
The EA does not appear in the Navigator.
It is in the wrong folder, or MetaTrader has not refreshed. Use File > Open Data Folder, check the folder name, then Refresh.
Do I need “Allow DLL imports”?
Not for FXNook licensing. Only if the seller says their EA needs it.
