Running on a VPS

Setting up an FXNook EA on a virtual server so it runs around the clock.

Updated September 19, 2026 1 min read

A VPS keeps MetaTrader running when your own computer is off. FXNook EAs work on any Windows VPS.

Setting up on a VPS

  1. Connect to your VPS and install MetaTrader, or use the one your provider installed.
  2. Log in to the trading account your licence is for.
  3. Copy the EA into the Experts folder using File > Open Data Folder.
  4. Allow FXNook in Tools > Options > Expert Advisors – this must be done again on every VPS.
  5. Attach the EA and enter your key.

Running on two machines

If the same account runs the EA on your computer and on a VPS at once, both place trades. Stop it on one of them.

Connection drops

If the VPS loses its internet connection for a while, the EA keeps running for a few days on its last verified answer. See How your licence is checked.
